2. The ruling goddess or the mistress, occurs as a surname of several divinities, such as Aphrodite (Theocrit. xv. 100), Demeter (Aristoph. T/hesm. 286), and Persephone. (Paus. viii. 37. § 6; comp. PERSEPHONE.)
